Overview of the Recall

Approximately 33,000 model-year 2013-18 Ram 2500 and Ram 3500 heavy-duty pickup trucks are affected by a recall due to issues with the Mopar steering linkages. These vehicles were due for replacement, and the recall addresses a critical safety concern.

The Problem: Steering Linkage Jam Nut Loosening

The primary issue involves the outboard steering linkage jam nut, which may loosen over time. This loosening can allow one end of the drag links to separate, potentially leading to a loss of vehicle control. Such a failure significantly increases the risk of a crash, making this a serious safety concern for owners of the affected vehicles.

The Fix: Free Repairs by Dealers

To address this issue, dealers will inspect the steering linkage and either replace the drag link assembly or weld the nut to the adjuster sleeve. These repairs will be performed free of charge to the vehicle owners, ensuring that the problem is resolved without any financial burden on the consumers.
