Electrified V-8: Power and Efficiency Combined
For 2024, the X5 M and X6 M are the first M-badged vehicles to integrate BMW’s mild-hybrid technology. The twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V-8 engine, now paired with a 48-volt electric motor, still delivers an impressive 617 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque. While acceleration figures remain at 0-60 mph in 3.7 seconds, BMW claims enhanced throttle response, better mid-range acceleration, and improved efficiency.

BMW has refined the drivetrain with an upgraded eight-speed automatic transmission that provides smoother, quicker shifts. The all-wheel-drive system benefits from a revised traction control system, offering improved cornering stability and grip. Structural enhancements and recalibrated suspension tuning contribute to superior handling, particularly in the selectable Comfort, Sport, and Sport Plus driving modes.
